We are a group of UBC Internal Medicine Residents, physicians-in-training for general internal medicine and its subspecialties, who are committed to the health promotion and disease prevention in the communities of British Columbia. Please explore our website to learn more about our program and how to get involved!
It is recognized that one of the key components of medical education, as outlined by CANMEDs values, includes patient advocacy. As physicians in training, internal medicine residents are required to demonstrate advocacy not only in the clinical and academic settings but also in the community and through the interaction with the public. The UBC Internal Medicine, over the last years, has developed the resident-centered advocacy program to address this key competency through the advocacy events organized and delivered by the residents themselves. This unique program continues to grow and expand further by liaison with community members, other health care professionals, and mentors in each subspecialty field. The UBC Internal Medicine Advocacy group welcomes further opportunities to be involved in community work, both local and abroad.
