Welcome to the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. You are about to embark on a career in Internal Medicine – a specialty invented by Canadians and one in which we excel. The Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia is the largest Department in the Faculty of Medicine and has approximately 450 full-time and part-time faculty members and 400 staff. Our Residency Program is one of the largest Internal Medicine Programs in Canada with over 160 Core Trainees. The teaching hospitals involved in our program include: the Vancouver General Hospital , St. Paul’s Hospital, BC Cancer Agency, Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, Prince George Regional Hospital, Kelowna General Hospital, and multiple community venues. The Internal Medicine Program at UBC is second largest Internal Medicine program in Canada.
