The Department of Medicine Human Resources Team

Director of Administration

Responsible for managing the human resources needs within the Department of Medicine for faculty, staff, and student employees. Works with UBC Human Resources and Faculty Relations, the Faculty of Medicine – Dean’s Office, Department Head, Division Heads, and Administrative Managers on complex issues around UBC policies and procedures on recruiting, hiring, training, managing, and disciplining of staff as well as issues around faculty salary, appointments, and reappointments.


Jane Zhang, Faculty Hires and Promotions Manager

Responsible for implementing and maintaining documentation and processes relating to faculty appointments, reappointments, promotion and tenure. Provides information on UBC and Departmental faculty recruitment, appointment, reappointment, and promotion policies and procedures to Administrators and Division Heads. Works in conjunction with the Faculty of Medicine – Dean’s Office on faculty appointments, promotions, advertising and offer letters. Coordinates Division Head Search committees and the Academic Appointments, Reappointments, Promotion and Tenure Committee (AARPT) cases and as well as assisting with the Recruitment and Resources Committee and Mentoring Committee.

Human Resources Assistants

Responsible for administrative tasks regarding human resources and personnel management relating to faculty, staff, and students. This includes maintaining, generating and processing all documentation including hiring, terminations, grant changes, and departmental lists and directories (UBC), and providing information on the policies relating to these employee groups. Coordinates requests for job postings, including supporting the eRecruit program for the Department of Medicine, provides assistance with advertising, and processes offers of invitation and welcome letters. Responsible for communicating with UBC Payroll, Human Resources, and the Faculty of Medicine – Dean’s Office to investigate and resolve payroll and personnel inquiries.
