Centre for Cardiovascular Innovation Formally Designated a Faculty of Medicine Research Centre

A message from Rob McMaster, Darryl Knight, and David Granville

We are pleased to announce that the Centre for Cardiovascular Innovation–Centre d’Innovation Cardiovasculaire (CCI-CIC) has become a formal UBC Faculty of Medicine-approved and Providence Research-approved research centre. This follows the CCI-CIC becoming a Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute (VCHRI)-approved research centre in 2020.

Led by centre director Dr. David Wood, professor in the UBC Department of Medicine’s Division of Cardiology, the CCI-CIC brings together the collective research excellence of 85 multidisciplinary investigators and 41 affiliated staff across British Columbia. As a Faculty of Medicine, Providence Research and VCHRI research centre, CCI-CIC provides services to enhance the research capacity of its member investigators and to facilitate national and international cardiovascular clinical trials.

By recognizing the CCI-CIC as a research centre in the UBC Faculty of Medicine, Providence Research and VCHRI, it will foster collaboration across health authorities and enhance the scope and success of cardiovascular research. Most importantly, it represents a vibrant partnership intended to transform health in B.C. and beyond through science and innovation, and a commitment to improve the health of patients with cardiovascular disease.

We would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Wood for his leadership in facilitating this important advancement.
