It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Dr. Keith Dawson on August 14, 2025. Dr. Dawson was a Professor Emeritus in the UBC Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism. He served as the Head of the UBC Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism from 1986-1994.
A respected clinician-scientist, Dr. Dawson contributed to landmark diabetes trials such as ACCORD and ADVANCE, chaired the Canadian Diabetes Association’s Clinical and Scientific Section, and helped shape national guidelines that continue to influence care today. His pioneering outreach work with remote First Nations communities through the Mobile Diabetes Telemedicine Clinic set a new standard for culturally sensitive healthcare delivery.
Dr. Dawson will be remembered as a passionate educator and advocate, embodying a lifelong dedication to advancing diabetes care and improving lives through science and service. We send our sincerest condolences to his family. His contributions will be remembered, and he will be greatly missed.
