The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Adam Fowler as Head, Division of Palliative Care, for a three-year term effective June 1, 2025.
Dr. Fowler is a Clinical Instructor and palliative care physician who has been working and teaching at multiple sites on the North Shore and in Vancouver for the better part of the past decade. He completed his undergraduate History degree and medical education at the University of Saskatchewan in his hometown of Saskatoon before travelling to complete his Family Medicine residency in Fredericton, New Brunswick and his Palliative Care fellowship in Ottawa, Ontario. He travelled to New Zealand as the Interim Medical Director of Hospice Waikato before family and Canadian winters called him back home to British Columbia in 2018. He established his home base with the incredible team at Lions Gate Hospital before recently transitioning his work into Vancouver proper at Providence Health Care. Since arriving, he has organized the annual Division of Palliative Care CME Day and became their first Associate Head of Education. He is known for his passion for medical education at the bedside and in front of audiences, his perfect cats, and his impeccable choice of bow ties.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Fowler on his appointment and wishing him all the best in his new role.
The Department would also like to thank Dr. Fify Soeyonggo for her outstanding leadership through serving as the Palliative Care Division Head from 2022 to 2024.
Sincerely,
