Two young researchers in the Department of Medicine have been awarded 2012 Career Investigator awards from the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research.
Dr. Viviane Dias Lima
Assistant Professor
Project title: Operations research applied to assess different strategies to reduce the public health and economic burdens of HIV/AIDS in British Columbia
Dr. David Moore
Clinical Assistant Professor
Project title: Effects of antiretroviral therapy (ART) program design on the HIV epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa
The MSFHR Career Investigator awards are given to promising faculty members in the early stages of their careers, and provide protected time for these researchers to get their research programs moving forward.
Both of this year’s awardees from the Department of Medicine are in the Division of AIDS and are members of the Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, which this year celebrated its 20th anniversary. The Centre has been eminently successful in attracting innovative scientists and researchers to join its team.
Our sincere congratulations to the awardees.
