Dr. Anita Palepu, UBC DOM Department Head, inducted as a 2021 Canadian Academy of Health Sciences Fellow

Dr. Anita Palepu, UBC Department head and Professor (Division of General Internal Medicine) has been inducted as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences

Induction into the CAHS as a Fellow is considered one of the highest honours within Canada’s academic community. CAHS Fellows, who serve as unpaid volunteers, are nominated by their institutions and peers and selected in a competitive process based on their internationally recognized leadership, academic performance, scientific creativity and willingness to serve.

Dr. Palepu’s outstanding contributions to research on the utilization of health services and the health status of vulnerable populations have had an immeasurable impact on improving the health outcomes of marginalized patients living in urban settings. Her renowned dedication to teaching, mentoring, justice, equity and diversity is exemplified in every aspect of her scholarship, clinical care, service to the academic community, to the departments she leads, and to the patients whose lives she touches.
