Dr. Diane Lacaille appointed as Associate Head of Academic Affairs

It is with great pleasure that we announce that Dr. Diane Lacaille has been appointed as the Associate Head Academic Affairs of the Department of Medicine effective September 15, 2015.

Dr. Lacaille has been a Full Professor in the Division of Rheumatology since 2013.  She has been an active staff at the Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre since 2001 and a Senior Scientist at the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada since 2009.  Dr. Lacaille has a particular interest in mentoring, and has mentored trainees and young faculty within the Division of Rheumatology, the Arthritis Research Centre, and within the broader arthritis research community.  Dr. Lacaille has been very successful in grant applications and is currently holding multiple grants from the CIHR and the Arthritis Society as a principal investigator and a co-investigator. Dr. Lacaille has been a member of many University Committees and was the Director of Research Mentorship Program for the Division of Rheumatology since 2006.  She was the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief since 2003 and the Co-chair of the Steering Committee, General Practice Service Committee Initiative for Musculoskeletal Diseases for British Columbia.  She has also been a member of several scholarly committees including the Arthritis Alliance of Canada Research Committee and the American College of Rheumatology Quality Indicators Subcommittee since 2011 as well as the Canadian Rheumatology Association Access to Care Committee since 2004.  Dr. Lacaille has been an editor and reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals and a reviewer for a number of granting agencies throughout her career.  She has been the Mary Pack Chair in Arthritis Research since 2011. She was the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal for making significant contributions and bringing credit to Canada in 2013.
