Dr. Laura Farrell appointed Interim Associate Dean, Student Affairs

Laura-Farrell-175px.jpgWe are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Laura Farrell to the role of Interim Associate Dean, Student Affairs in the UBC Faculty of Medicine commencing on July 1, 2021.

In her new role, Dr. Farrell will provide strategic leadership to advance the programming and support provided by the Student Affairs team. The portfolio will provide individual student support, ensuring access to student counselling, career planning, tuition and financial advising, student loans, student awards and student-led activities.

Dr. Farrell is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Community Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine and a Scholar at the Centre for Health Education Scholarship (CHES). Since 2015, she has served as the Assistant Dean of the Island Medical Program (IMP). She is a Master Teacher in the IMP and is involved in teaching in all four years of the undergraduate medical education curriculum.  She will be stepping down from her role as Assistant Dean, IMP to pursue this new role with the Faculty of Medicine.

We thank Dr. Farrell for her ongoing and outstanding commitment to Medical Education in the Department of Medicine and wish her all the best on her interim appointment as Associate Dean, Student Affairs with the Faculty of Medicine.
