Dr. Ritu Kumar appointed Associate Program Director, 4th Yr Residents, Internal Medicine (DOM PGME)

It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Dr. Ritu Kumar as the Associate Program Director, Fourth Year Residents of the Department of Medicine’s Postgraduate Education Program effective December 16, 2019.

Dr. Kumar is a Clinical Instructor in the Division of Community Internal Medicine. She predominantly works in a collaborative interdisciplinary and interprofessional community based setting. She has been extensively involved with medical education at UBC at both the undergraduate and post graduate levels and is also on the executive committee of British Columbia’s Society of General Internal Medicine. Her experience with the training program as a resident and now as clinical faculty provide her with an understanding of the specific needs for our residents as they solidify their skills and knowledge of internal medicine and prepare for the transition into community clinical practice.

At this time we would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jane McKay as she leaves this role to accept the role of the Physician Program Director for St. Paul’s Hospital.  The fourth year Internal Medicine residents, and the Internal Medicine program as a whole is very grateful for the contributions that Dr. McKay has made to the program.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Kumar to her new role!
