The TEDx conference, the largest of its kind in Vancouver, is an annual not-for-profit conference at which a suite of educational and inspirational short talks is shared with onsite and online audiences. The Conference takes place on Saturday March 3, 2018 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in downtown Vancouver.

Dr. Wong, a geriatrician and clinical professor in the UBC Division of Geriatric Medicine, is the only physician speaking at this year’s conference. He is also the second Canadian — and first UBC professor — to be selected by the British Geriatrics Society (BGS) as the 2017 Trevor Howell Guest Lecturer, which recognizes eminent physicians or scientists with an international reputation.  His clinical research focuses on hospital medicine in vulnerable older adults, including quality improvement in acute care geriatrics.

As this year’s TEDx Speaker, Dr. Wong’s talk is titled “To Stay or Not To Stay” and will focus on how we can enable seniors to stay in their own homes as long as it is feasible.

“It is a true honour for me to represent the University of British Columbia on the TEDx stage and I look forward to spreading the word globally on how we can improve senior care at this year’s TEDx conference,” says Dr. Wong, former President of the Canadian Geriatrics Society.

Congratulations to Dr. Roger Wong on this remarkable achievement and for his contributions to Geriatric Medicine by sharing Ideas Worth Spreading.
