Dr. Yasser Abou Mourad appointed Head, Division of Hematology

The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Yasser Abou Mourad as Head, Division of Hematology, for a five-year term effective January 1, 2025.

Dr. Mourad is a Clinical Professor (pending final approval at FOM) and Hematologist with the Leukemia/BMT Program of British Columbia. He trained in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology/Hematology at the American University of Beirut before joining the Leukemia/BMT Program of BC as a Clinical Fellow in 2004. He is an active researcher taking part in multiple national and international studies in the field of acute lymphoblastic leukemia that lead to improving patient care world-wide and in BC. He is a registered clinical investigator at the USA-National Cancer Institute and the National Cancer Institute of Canada. He previously served as the Fellowship and Training Director of the L/BMT Program of BC, Co-Chair of the L/BMT Acute Leukemia Working Group, Founding Member and Director at The Canadian Leukemia Study Group, and a Member of UBC Hematology Residency Training Committee.
