Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) on student accounts at UBC mandatory by November 1, 2023

The introduction of MFA on student accounts at UBC is a crucial step in enhancing cybersecurity and protecting personal information.

We are excited to announce a significant step forward in enhancing the security of your CWL account at UBC. Starting November 1, 2023, your CWL will require multi-factor authentication (MFA) to safeguard your personal information and protect against unauthorized access.

Enrolling in MFA adds an extra layer of security to your account, ensuring that only you have access to your sensitive information. This additional authentication step will require you to verify your identity through a secondary method, such as a verification code or a push notification to your mobile device, in addition to your regular username and password.

It is mandatory for all students to enroll in MFA before the November 1, 2023, deadline. Failure to enroll by the deadline will result in restricted access to various university applications, which may disrupt your academic experience.

Enrolling is quick and easy. Detailed instructions and step-by-step guidance can be found at it.ubc.ca/mfa.

By implementing MFA, UBC is committed to providing you with a secure digital environment that protects your personal information. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please visit it.ubc.ca/mfa.

Thank you for your cooperation in this important security initiative. Together, we can create a safer digital community at UBC.
