Each year, the UBC Department of Medicine honours faculty and staff members who have made significant and meaningful contributions to education, teaching, research, quality and innovation, mentorship and clinical practice. These prizes and awards celebrate our faculty and staff members and recognize the local and global impact of the UBC Department of Medicine.
The UBC Department of Medicine is pleased to announce two new Clinical Faculty Awards for 2023.
Clinical Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching
This award is open to all Clinical Faculty members at distributed sites (Fraser Medical Program, Island Medical Program, Northern Medical Program, Southern Medical Program) with a current appointment in the Department of Medicine who have demonstrated excellence in teaching in a clinical setting.
- Nominee has demonstrated sustained excellence in teaching in a clinical setting.
- Nominee’s excellence in teaching is evidenced by evaluations of students and/or residents and/or peers.
- Nominee has inspired, influenced and motivated students, residents and peers.
- Nominee has had a major impact on students’ and/or residents’ acquisition of clinical knowledge, skill and judgment.
Each nomination requires two nominators; nominators can be Clinical or Full-Time faculty members, medical students, and/or residents within the Department of Medicine.
The completed and signed nomination form must be submitted to the Department of Medicine (donna.combs@ubc.ca) no later than Sunday, May 28, 2023.
Clinical Faculty Award for Excellence in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
This award is open to all Clinical Faculty members at distributed sites (Fraser Medical Program, Island Medical Program, Northern Medical Program, Southern Medical Program) with a current appointment in the Department of Medicine who have demonstrated excellence in quality improvement and patient safety.
- Nominee has demonstrated excellence and commitment to transforming and improving patient safety.
- Nominee has demonstrated a dedication to quality improvement at their clinical site.
- Nominee has demonstrated the ability to foster a continuous learning culture. Nominee has championed quality improvement at their clinical site.
Each nomination requires two nominators; nominators can be Clinical or Full-Time faculty members within the Department of Medicine.
The completed and signed nomination form must be submitted to the Department of Medicine (donna.combs@ubc.ca) no later than Sunday, May 28, 2023.
Nominations will be reviewed by the UBC Department of Medicine Awards Committee and recommendations will be made to the Department Head for final deliberation. Award recipients will be presented with a plaque and formal recognition at the Annual Department of Medicine Awards Presentation on June 8, 2023. Award recipients will also have their name and photo published in the weekly Department of Medicine newsletter and website.
