A total of 35 emerging and established research excellence clusters led by researchers on the Vancouver campus will be supported in 2021/22.
Dr. Anita Palepu, UBC Department Head and Emerging Cluster Lead for the Data Science and Health (DASH) Cluster, is building a system to link health research data in BC. The work will enhance the availability and use of health data to improve diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease, as well as enable computational tools that speed discovery of new knowledge, optimizing health outcomes for all BC residents.
Research Excellence Clusters are interdisciplinary networks of researchers focused on solving key challenges facing society, and are a key component of Strategy 6 of the Strategic Plan (Shaping UBC’s Next Century) in support of Research Excellence. The Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters competition (GCRC) was jointly created by the Vice-President, Research & Innovation and the Provost & Vice-President, Academic and is supported by UBC’s Academic Excellence Funds.
