Data Science and Health (DASH) Cluster: AI Meets Ethics Speaker Series

The UBC Data Science and Health (DASH) Research Cluster is excited to launch our new AI Meets Ethics Speaker Series! This series will explore the ethical implications of, and considerations for, implementing AI technologies in healthcare.

The first session “Health Data Foundations and Equitable AI” features DASH Cluster’s EDI Co-Lead, Dr. Charlene Ronquillo.

Speaker Bio: Dr. Ronquillo is a Filipina scholar, Registered Nurse, health informatician, and the Lead of the Health Informatics Equity Lab at the UBCO School of Nursing. The goal of her work is to improve equity in BC’s healthcare with thoughtful and inclusive technologies. Dr. Ronquillo’s ongoing research aims to ensure the meaningful inclusion of non-dominant groups in the conceptualization, design, development, and implementation of health technologies in health systems. Her expertise lies in mixed methods, participatory, and co-production approaches, software design/development methods, and the technology lifecycle: from conceptualization to evaluation and refinement.
