ANNOUNCEMENT: UBC Returning to Onsite Work and Voluntary Remote Work Program

As you may already know from the central UBC emails, UBC is planning a return to onsite work for this fall. UBC is also offering a corresponding one-year trial voluntary remote work program for all employee groups that some UBC positions may be eligible to participate in depending on operational feasibility. This means all UBC employees including CUPE 2950, M&P, and non-union Research Assistants/Technicians are being asked to prepare to transition back to onsite work at least in some capacity.

The Department of Medicine appreciates that after working remotely since March 2020, a transition back to onsite work may take some time and that people will transition at different speeds. With this in mind, the Department of Medicine has developed suggestions to complement the guidelines from UBC Central and the recommendations from the Faculty of Medicine in relation to assessing feasibility in participating in the voluntary remote work program. These suggestions will be sent to division members by their Division Administrator.
