Congratulations to the Department of Medicine recipients of the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s 2018 Awards

Each year, the Faculty of Medicine recognizes outstanding faculty and staff who are dedicated to transforming health for everyone through innovative research, teaching excellence, and service to the University.

 The UBC Department of Medicine would like to congratulate the very deserving members of the Department who have been named the Faculty’s 2018 Award recipients:

 

Award for Excellence in Mentoring Early Career Faculty – Dr. John Cairns (Cardiology)

The Faculty of Medicine Awards for Excellence in Mentoring Early Career Faculty are given to those who exemplify a deep commitment to fostering the professional development of faculty members, such as Instructors and Assistant Professors, in the early stages of their academic career.

 

 

 

Clinical Faculty Award for Career Excellence in Clinical Teaching – Dr. Roger Wong (Geriatric Medicine)

This award is presented to a senior Clinical Faculty member appointed in the Faculty of Medicine who has demonstrated sustained excellence in teaching over the course of their careers.

 

 

 

Clinical Faculty Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching – Dr. Saul Isserow (Cardiology)

This award is presented to a Clinical Faculty member appointed in the Faculty of Medicine who has demonstrated excellence in clinical teaching at a Clinical Academic Campus.

 

 

 

Clinical Faculty Award for Excellence in Community Practice Teaching – Dr. Amin Aminbakhsh (Cardiology VFMP)

This award is presented to a Clinical Faculty member appointed in the Faculty of Medicine who have demonstrated excellence in teaching in a community practice setting and have made an educational impact in a local community.

 

 

 

Distinguished Achievement Award – Overall Excellence Early Career – Dr. Thalia Field (Neurology)

The Distinguished Achievement Award is given to a faculty member who exemplifies outstanding contributions to the Faculty of Medicine in education, research, and/or service to the University.

 

 

 

Distinguished Achievement Award – Excellence in Clinical or Applied Research – Dr. Chris Ryerson (Respiratory Medicine)

The Distinguished Achievement Award is give to a faculty member who exemplifies outstanding contributions to the Faculty of Medicine in clinical or applied research and scholarly contributions.
