Dr. Evan Wood Awarded the 2013 Research and Mission Award

Dr. Evan Wood, Professor in the Division of AIDS, and internal medicine physician at St. Paul’s Hospital, has been recognized by Providence Health Care as a scientists who upholds the core principles of patient centered care, while contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge at the highest level.

In addition to his numerous awards, and accolades Dr. Wood holds a Canada Research Chair in Inner City Medicine, acts as the Director of the Urban Health Research Initiative (UHRI), and is the founder of the International Centre for Science in Drug Policy. He is recognized internationally as a specialist in inner city medicine, drug addiction and health policy.

His focus on using research informed policy and prevention to improve the health and well-being of street-involved youth, and illicit drug users significantly impacts some of Vancouver’s most vulnerable people. The Research and Mission Award reflects his dedication to excellence research, medical education, and advancing the standard of care for all patients.
